Help!!! - how to connect ps3 to wireless internet? - Help!!!
Sponsored Links
but now i have one more problem that i need to fix and was hoping some of you guys could help me. i cant figure out how to connect my ps3 to the internet...i want to do a wireless connection because i have a router...and i followed the steps that the book says to take, and the ps3 recognized my internet connection (100%), but when i set it all up and do a "test connection"...it fails and it says that it couldnt recognize/pick-up the access point. the steps i take are...wireless...ssid selection...secruity setting password...easy...(then it checks my network configuration)...then it asks me to either manuelly set or automatically set, ip address, dhcp host name, dns setting, mtu, proxy server use/not, upnp enable/disable.....and then it shows me all my selections and asks me to do a test connection and when i do, it says it failed, because the connection to the access point timed out. does anyone know how i can fix this and get wireless internet connection working? thanks in advanced!!!!!!!!! try and do it again with the contoller plugged in with the usb lead
if you look in the ps3 manual it says something about the contoller effecting some wirless routers and if so you need to connect to the internet with an ethernet cable. its in the internet connection section

I am having trouble with this too. I am using a secured Linksys router, and my computer has no problem connecting to it. When I scan for networks on the PS3 all it finds is the computer, and no router. I have tried setting it up custom, but to no avail. Does anyone have an idea that can help me?

Internet
If you are using wireless sixaxis controllers for gameplay, they may be interfering with your wireless gateway (router) signals.... so you will have to use a ethernet wire to connect your PS3 to your gateway. I had the same problem with my console and also with my PC, b/c I can't use my wireless gateway and my wireless mouse and keyboard at the same time. The frequencies of the signals must be very similar... hope this helps..

Hey Guys.....
Hey everyone,
I work for the Bluetooth SIG, and I can tell you that the problems with your wireless has nothing to do with the Bluetooth contoller in 99% of the cases. Even though they both use the 2.4 Ghz frequency, Bluetooth does frequency hopping which means that it only uses the available channels within the frequency and constantly hops around. This is why Bluetooth devices don't interfer with teach other. I work in a lab that sometimes has 20-50 Bluetooth device going and our wifi is never affected. Now in the case of the PC, it could be, but it's the drivers conflicting and not the Bluetooth signal. The most likely cause of your wifi issues is probably your wireless router configuration. You should set up your PS3 with a static IP address, this you'll need to setup in the Network configuration tool that came with your router. Happy Gaming~ |

A WiFi driver conflicting with a Bluetooth driver? Ha, I certainly don't want that thing in my kernel. (not that I want any drivers in the kernel ;)) It seems a lot more likely that he's just using an 802.11 mouse and keyboard that's on the same channel as his router...

I didn't mean a Bluetooth driver or the stack, I was refering to a USB driver if he was using a USB network adapter. But, you are right, microsoft does make keyboards that are wireless but don't use Bluetooth, could be 802.11 or generic 2.4 Ghz (proprietary solution).

Ok, I'm trying connect to the internet with my ps3.. If i plug it directly into the router it works, but the router is downstairs, so i'm trying to do it on wireless. When I type in my WPA key it says timed out the wpa key you entered may be incorrect, but it isn't.. I used it to connect to the internet with my computers. Nothing can just work can it..?
