Can anybody help me? Bought Ps3 console for my son last xmas from Japan. Has been playing games that came with it from Japan that are NTSC. The system is NTSC. I have recently bought a couple of UK Pal games but when he inserts it says "the system software of your ps3 system is version 1.10. To start you must update to version 1.50 or later. Do you want to update now?" When he presses enter it says "No applicable update data was found". I rang Sony and he told me that because its a Japanese console it can only be updated in Japan and that to do this in UK will corrupt the console. Im really confused. I have been reading stuff on this forum and it says PS3 games are region free so why am I having this problem? What can I do about it? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated? Where do I get NTSC games in UK if my only option is to stick with those games? Help help help. Thank you. Thank you. Caterina
for PS3 all games are region free!
do update for 1.93v (you should connect to internet with consule),don't do an update from any playstation(europe,us,korea....),only japan!!!!!!!!if you will update wrong verision, you will corrupt the system and should wait for new update.
when system will ask for update do it,don't be afraid,it will download from right site,if you prefer do it via usb disk on key, then go to japan site only!!!!

I've got a jap PS3 and I've never had a problem doing any updates. My PS3 has always told me if I need an update and never let me down. I'm currently running the latest update which is 1.93 I believe

I've got must of it translated using google so all you'll need to do is download the update to your pc then transfer it onto a memory card or usb stick (needs to be a minimum 128mb)

but... why does I cant Watch some copy of DVD/BD convert to DVD movies that I burned to DVD-R???
before I update to 2.52, all things fine...
Why?
Is there any more protection against piracy?)
