download stuff on ps3 internet
can u download stuff like aim on the ps3 internet and can u watch like youtube videos? i just got mine to day and was wondering if u could

its a little different on the ps3 to download off the internet but dont really too much about it. as far as youtube, hell yeah you can watch it normally like you would with a browser on your computer. i youtube all the time on my big screen hdtv and its awesome. by the way, welcome. im new too. if you got a psn id feel free to share. been online gaming all week

you can't download aim or other programs seeing that they where made for windows or a mac ( you can however run linex as your os than run a windows emulater to get around that). as for online video's youtube, megavideo, and google video work perfectly, veoh works as long as it under 30 mins otherwise you need veoh tv with you can't download on to the ps3, daliymotion works some of the time, myspace video doesn't work, and while stage6 doesn't work sony has talked about including a divx player in a download sometime later so theres hope for stage6. as you can tell i watch a lot of stuff online and i hope this helps you.

you are definitely well informed. how do you get linex to run on this? and i gotta agree a keyboard would be a lot easier bcuz im button mashing every letter right now lol

honestly i have no idea how to put linex on the ps3 because you have to burn linex on to a disk and i don't have a burner so i gave up upon hearing that. but you can allways search youtube using the tags ps3 linex os and many people have step by step instructions posted up.

dont risk it. the os the ps3 has is fine. if u fuk it up then ur ps3 will permanantly shut down. and dnt expect sony to replace it for ur mess. leave it out m8 trust me

It has it's own browser and you can BROWSE the web. Why Sony didn't make it a computer I don't know but they didn't.
I would much rather "do the web" on my PC than the PS3 ant way.

youtube just changed/updated its player and so currently the ps3 can't play videos from there. I assume the next update will fix this

I was trolling around my cross-medai bar and I noticed that (on my 60gb PS3)you can format the hard drive for a second operating system. I didn't try this because if you do it, you WILL lose everything that is stored on your PS3.
also, does anyone know if the PS3 can get viruses?
