Hi, so I have a recent problem with my PS3, it no longer goes online and whenever I try to via network settings it says, "cannot obtain ip adress, service timed out".

I connect to the internet via a Thompson SpeedTouch wired Modem. I dont have a router or wireless router, I simply put an ethernet cable from the socket in the PC to the socket in the PS3.

Using the above method worked for the last week and i've been happily playing COD4 *kickin loads of ass

* but then yesterday my problem started.
When I try to get on now, it says on my PC's tool bar "network cable is unplugged" and nothing online works with my PS3. Although my internet works fine and I can go an any websites on my PC.

I'm not sure whether my local area netwok settings are all messed up or its something technical I need to do with my PS3, Im in the blue here!

If anyone requires any further information on the matter that can help shed somelight on the situation then I will and all help is much appreciated!!

It sounds to me as if the cable or port has developed a fault, try a different cable and plug it into the same port your pc uses at present.

next time that happens just turn your ps3 off/on and that fixes it for me when it happened to me...

Currently having connection issues, i'm doing this on my ps3 but can't sign in to the network have tried turning ps3 on & off same with the router.

Any ideas?
