Switched to Wired Connection, Not Able to Download!?
...I switched to wired as my wireless connection downloads were a disaster (even though the router & ps3 are in the same room)...so I decided to go wired...bought a 10m network cable from game...now it's even worse- tried downloading UEFA football demo- it was stuck on 'downloading 0%' for a good 45min...can anyone pls help me out here?

The download speed could be something to do with your router not opening the correct ports or your ISP blocking the connection if I were you I'd phone customer support

I dont know what ports need to be opened sorry, call sony first see what they say, they will tell you all the details etc and if you need to phone your ISP or router manufacturer. There is also a website that shows you how to open ports http://portforward.com/routers.htm

Right called my ISP (Virgin Media)...the tech guys are outsourced to India and they have'nt a clue

What kind of router are you using?

If i were you i'd start from the very beginning, here's a useful guide for setting up a wired ps3 connection:

It also includes troubleshooting tutorials for specific connection errors.

A linksys WRT54GS...wierd thing is when I first purchased the PS3, the downloads were fast...3 months down the line and its gone pear shaped.

Are the speeds just slow or is there no connection at all?, also i presume you're connecting through the same router for your PC?
