DNZ/Port Setting

If i set DNZ ip address would i still have to set port forward? Are they two different things. I been reading around and someone said that if i set DNZ it opens all ports that are required for the PS3 and future ports when needed. Then i read the thread ps3 master posted about opening ports.. I'm still a little confused here

I tried to enable my routers DMZ but the damn thing still wont let me download anything . So what i did was open some ports and that did the trick. Before I couldn't update COD4, now that open forward ports I'm good. All i need now are some online buddies so I can test it out.. Thanx G
