How to Sign Up PS3 ID Problem with Connection to Server

Hi all,

Hope you can help. Managed to sort out internet connections today for my sons PS3 and the wireless is enabled and the signal strength is 100%. I wasnt however able to update my system via the internet as there was a problem connecting to the server. After having done it manually following instructions from a sony customer services rep I was relieved and then tried signing up for an internet account so he can enjoy the online experience, however in the middle of signing up it showed that there was a problem with the connection to the server. Tried again twenty minutes later and got a bit further but then it seemed to be practically at the end of the procedure which took ages and then the same problem with connection to the server. Why has this happened? Will we ever manage to sign up. The adverts for PS3 make it sound so wonderful and easy to go online and enjoy the experience but believe me I am drained after a whole day of trying and not succeeding. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Caterina

all depending on ya router make when ya do connection test does it all sucssed and what is ya nat type if its 3 ya wanna get it to 2 for this ya want to go into ya router settings and just put ya ps3 ip address in to the DMZ zone also look for the upnp enable button in ya settings on router and enable it this puts you the right side of the firewall and lets ya play and download game updates and sign up if this works then we can tell ya how to use port forwarding to open ports for ps3 that lets it communicate with the net so try this and if ok tell us ya router maker and we can help ya with port forward good luck and it is fustrating but be patient and ya will be rewarded with the delight on ya sons face at this online experience ok( if ya tell me ya router name i tell ya how to get to ya settings page)

Thank you Gino. I did manage to get it all working. Spent 45 mins on phone to sony and had a really dopey guy to deal with first but the second man I spoke to was more in the know and guided me through what to do. He gave me stuff to do with opening ports and I got in touch with my computer expert and he did it all for me so you were definitely right with what you thought the problem might be as everything you mentioned was relevant even though its double dutch to me. Yes, my son is delighted and is playing online fifa as we speak. So thanks again.

All the best.

Caterina

sounds much the same leon go to the belkin router settings page accessable by typing http://192.168.2.1or copy and paste this m8 just hit submit on password dont put anything in here unless ya have changed it then find ya upnp enable button and enable it then find ya ps3 ip address last digits and enter it into the DMZ zone box and tick the enable box then hit apply changes and that puts ya ps3 on the dark side of firewall ha ha ok try connection test now on ps3 and ya nat should be type 2 if this works we can work on the ports then ok m8 much the same as i said to cat but bit more explainitory ok m8 let me know how ya do m8
