Ok so here's the deal: I'm getting a PS3, and going to be getting a router, but the modem isn't in the same room as the PS3. It's actually two floors below where the PS3 is gonna be located. The problem is I'm not exactly sure how a router works in that sort of situation. Anyone care to enlighten me as to how I would end up setting it up in the end, so that I don't look like a total idiot? Thanks!

Yeah that's no problem, just make sure you buy a wireless router, i'd reccomend a Linksys from personal experience.

That way it doesnt matter were your PS3 is located , you'l just connect your router up to your modem and go from there.

I've been using the same Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless for years now. Easy to setup and use.

You should be able to pick one up for less than 100$ or so.

Depending on the building you live in, the wireless connection strength might not be great for being two floors above. This will slow your download speeds and you might not be able to connect to online games.
There is ways around this by purchasing wireless network extenders which should help.
