ok, so for about the past 2 weeks off and on i have been battling this error code, and never have i succeded in connecting to the internet via the ethernet cable at my apartment. tonight i went for it again, and still no luck. same error code every attempt. can someone please help me. to test that the cable and outlet are not the issue, i plugged my laptop into it and i am currently online using that connection. i would appreciate any help on the issue, as i am tired of messing with it. TIA!!

when i had the same error i tried going into internet connection settings in network settings, i went onto easy and followed the steps, afterwards i tured off my ps3 and back on again. From then on it has been fine.

I'm having the same problems

been googling for some time and I learned this: try doin this.Internet Settings>Custom>Manual Settings>Auto Detect>Automatic>Do Not Set>Manual(u will then be promted to write the DNS number thing. Try one of theese three DNS numbers
1:Primary:208.67.222.222
Secondary:208.67.220.220
2:Primary:4.2.2.1
Secondary:4.2.2.5
3:Primary:129.250.35.250
Secondary:129.250.35.251
After using one of theese three DNS numbers and continuing press Auto>Do Not Use>Enable>X>X (X being the button ...X

)

Im not sure this will work havent tryed it yet but saw some other comments where it worked

Hi there i wanna connect my ps3 to the internet but don't know

Nevermind this "tutorial". I called playstation 3 customer service and they told me that my internet company does not allow other systems to use the internet that my computer use ( i use an ethernet cable, but i think this also would work with a wireless network) This is the easy way to get internet connection working on your playstation 3 if u have the "this is a DNS error" error :

1. Go into System Settings and then into System Information and find your playstation 3's MAC adress ( write it down for later )
2. Find out who the **** your internet company is and there Customer Service number.
3.Call em and tellm them that you got a playstation 3 DNS error, they should ask u by now about the MAC adress. Tell them what the MAC adress is, turn of your playstation 3, wait a few minutes and it should be all right by now.

The thing is that they need to add the MAC adress to there computers or something so that the playstation can get acces to the internet trough the ethernet cable or router.

And paultanz11 if you want to use an ethernet cable simply plug it in the playstation3 (the ethernet cable place is at the back of the playstation 3)
and turn your playstation on. Go into settings now and into network settings and then into internet connection settings) now just press "easy" so you dont have to write all the things manualy. If it says DNS error when the system tryes to test the internet connection try the reply above this one. If it says complete then your good to go

And if u want wired then just go into network settings and then into internet connection settings and press easy.

Hi there yall man fanx fo da help ae but im still lost

with the ps3 connection
huh i did everithing dat u'z all told me to do

but u know where u put the wire
to connect to the net, is it a normal internet wire or do i have to buy a different wire to connect it

..pls help me out i've been wanting to connect ma
ps3 to the net but still dont know how so yea reply bak a.s.a.p

you can use the same cable that u use for your computer. simply plug it in at the back of the console. there shud be a green light blinking when u plug it in. the green light is at the back of the console too

Hae sup yal wel dis is to anione hu can help me, because im stil having problems with connecting my ps3 but these are the things i need to know..

-du i have to du anifing first before i connect the cable
-i plugd the cable wire into the ps3 but the green light didnt cum on

Please help me out im stil lost lik hardout ae..

No u dont have to do anyting before u plug the ethernet cable into the back of the playstation 3 console

Are u sure u used the same ethernet cable u use for your computer ? And try turning your ps3 off and on and see if the green light blinks. if that doesnt help i cant really help u anymore cus i dont know alot about ethernet cables and stuff
