Hi Glenn, for HD you need a high def TV ie: an LCD or plasma flat screen that supports the 720p or higher format.
Any tv that you buy these days will have an HDMI socket on the back the same as whats on your PS3, you then simply connect a HDMI cable between the 2 devices and you will have a great looking picture for your games.
As for wireless internet, the PS3 has a built in wifi connection, so all you need at your end is a wireless router that will send your household's internet connection to the PS3, or as you said you can also run a networking cable from your router that im guessing you already have , to the PS3 and that as well will give you a internet connection.
